Friendship Terrace: Apartments
When Friendship Terrace opened in 1970, it was one of the first retirement communities in Washington built with the assistance of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. As a model retirement housing facility, its design includes many social and recreational areas such as a game room, green house, computer corner, library, and roof top decks - areas usually available only in more expensive retirement communities. The large sliding glass windows, found in each apartment, are one of Friendship Terrace's most striking features. For individuals, studio apartments include a kitchen area (a refrigerator, stove, sink and cupboards), a walk-in closet, a full bath, and an ample sitting room.
One or two people are eligible for a one bedroom apartment which includes everything found in an studio plus a separate bedroom. All units are air- conditioned and heated centrally with individual temperature controls in each apartment.
Individuals or couples can also rent an "optional one-bedroom" unit which combines two studio units.
With wall-to-wall carpeting and draperies provided, each apartment is ready for your own furnishings, your telephone and your personal touch. It doesn't take long to settle in, feel secure and enjoy the comfort of apartment living at Friendship Terrace.
Some additional storage is available by request. One pet per unit is allowed with some restrictions.
